Volume 2 of Kiss Him, Not me picks up where the story left off. Kae has just gotten back to school after the summer anime conventions, and four boys in school still want her. Of course, Kae is still a massive perv and would rather fantasize about the boys with each other. This volume is dominated by anime. At the school festival, Kae gets everyone on board with a Cosplay cafe, and she ends up making the guys a bunch of costumes. References to other works abound, and serve to lighten the mood. But this also leads to the best character choice so far in the story: the boys deciding they don't want to date Kae together and splitting up. There is only so far this could go without Kae turning into a ridiculous Mary Sue, so I'm glad that plot line is easing up. This and the introduction of a new character, leave me hopeful for the third volume. However, there is one annoying flub, the timeline. This volume started at the summer festival and ended at Christmas, which is a ridiculous time skip. I really hope they never pull a stunt like that again.

Fangirl Kae has four admirers, and here, they go on a series of dates in expected manga situations. First, there’s the school festival, and due to the cosplay theme, Kae gets to make outfits for several of the guys (including one who’s playing princess). They get upset at spending all their time with her in a group, though, so they draw up an individual dating schedule. That, and the way they all work together in preparation for the event, gave me more insight into how to distinguish the guys, which was a big help, compared to the first book. Shinomiya is the young blond, aching to be seen as more mature, a real man. Igarashi is the caring, thoughtful nice guy who also wants to tell the truth. Nanashima is the pushy, flirty other blond. Mutsumi is the older, sensible one, a comforting presence.Kiss Him, Not Me! is a light, breezy read that doesn’t make fun of its lead for her fannish interests. She doesn’t want to make a choice yet, enjoying finding out more about what she wants. Her nervousness in dealing with attractive men is both amusing and sympathetic, making for a dating manga I enjoy. Plus, whenever she gets the courage to say what she really wants, everyone says, “ok, sounds good”, a nice bit of validation. In a later Christmas story, she actually takes them all to Comiket, and they buy doujinshi for her. They know what she likes! (Review originally posted at ComicsWorthReading.com.)

It was such a good read. The mix of comedy and high school romace. Would definitely reccomend to others

i loved this one as much as the first one. all the characters kept the story going so smoothly and i liked when she was up front with the guys about her feelings... and the ending!!!! could this mean possible yuri? as a yaoi fan to the end im not into yuri but the twist of a gender bender character gives a surprise twist for me.

My daughter loves this series. I have not read it so I can only go by what she says.

My kids love this series of books.

my niece was please came in good condition

Love it. I'm becoming a weeb and I'm okay with it.

really great manga, i found all of the stories really interesting

About the Author

Peter Hawkes graduated from the University of Cambridge and subsequently obtained his PhD in the Electron Microscopy Section of the Cavendish Laboratory. He remained there for several years, working on electron optics and digital image processing before taking up a research position in the CNRS Laboratory of Electron Optics (now CEMES-CNRS) in Toulouse, of which he was Director in 1987. During the Cambridge years, he was a Research Fellow of Peterhouse and a Senior Research fellow of Churchill College. He has published extensively, both books and scientific journal articles, and is a member of the editorial boards of Ultramicroscopy and the Journal of Microscopy. He was the founder-president of the European Microscopy Society, CNRS Silver Medallist in 1983 and is a Fellow of the Optical Society of America and of the Microscopy Society of America (Distinguished Scientist, Physics, 2015), Fellow of the Royal Microscopical Society and Honorary Member of the French Microscopy Society. In 1982, he was awarded the ScD degree by the University of Cambridge. In 1982, he took over editorship of the Advances in Electronics & Electron Physics (now Advances in Imaging & Electron Physics) from Claire Marton (widow of the first editor, Bill Marton) and followed Marton's example in maintaining a wide range of subject matter. He added mathematical morphology to the topics regularly covered; Jean Serra and Gerhard Ritter are among those who have contributed. In 1980, he joined Professor Wollnik (Giessen University) and Karl Brown (SLAC) in organising the first international conference on charged-particle optics, designed to bring together opticians from the worlds of electron optics, accelerator optics and spectrometer optics. This was so successful that similar meetings have been held at four-year intervals from 1986 to the present day. Peter Hawkes organised the 1990 meeting in Toulouse and has been a member of the organising committee of all the meetings. He has also participated in the organization of other microscopy-related congresses, notably EMAG in the UK and some of the International and European Congresses on electron microscopy as well as three Pfefferkorn conferences. He is very interested in the history of optics and microscopy, and recently wrote long historical articles on the correction of electron lens aberrations, the first based on a lecture delivered at a meeting of the Royal Society. He likewise sponsored biographical articles for the Advances on such major figures as Ernst Ruska (Nobel Prize 1986), Helmut Ruska, Bodo von Borries, Jan Le Poole and Dennis Gabor (Nobel Prize, 1971). Two substantial volumes of the series were devoted to 'The Beginnings of Electron Microscopy' and 'The Growth of Electron Microscopy'. and others have covered 'Cold Field Emission Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy' and 'Aberration-corrected Electron Microscopy', with contributions by all the main personalities of the subject.
