Wow, what a waste of money. Unless you've literally NEVER used MS Office -- on either the PC or the Mac -- then this book is a complete waste of your time and money. To say that it's "basic" would be a dramatic understatement. This book is designed for people who just bought a Mac and are thinking to themselves, "Gosh, I'd like to write a letter on my computer. I wonder how I do that???"Seriously, if you can't figure out the MS Office functionality that this book teaches you on your own, then maybe you really shouldn't be using a computer... Sorry to be so negative -- the book IS well written, but I just got almost nothing out of it.OK, maybe I'm being overly harsh. I'm a 20+ years user of MS Office on both the PC and Mac platforms. I love to hate Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. (Alright, PowerPoint is, IMHO, the best program MSFT has ever created.) While these programs are very complex, and very capable, the basics of making and formatting documents with them is not rocket science. Unfortunately, that's about all this book covers -- there's just not much info beyond what the menus do...For my part, I was specifically hoping to learn how color themes in PowerPoint for Office 2016 work on the Mac. I've dabbled with templates and themes in the past, and something's different between Office 2011 and Office 2016 -- the new version doesn't seem to want to let me edit the color palette and save it so that my new .POTX files would retain my custom theme. Unfortunately, this book doesn't even seem to acknowledge that such functions in PPT capabilities exist -- forget about providing any help on them...Bottom line? This book does a fine job covering the basics if you are utterly new to Office. If you have even a little experience with ANY prior version of Office, this book won't teach you much.
This book is perhaps useful for the beginner, but I have yet to learn anything from it and I am far from being an expert. The index is of almost no use other than to find quickly where to look for major sections. So far I have found nothing about several questions I had, such as how to use mail merge in Word and how to create mailing labels from Excel.
This is one of the only reference books on the latest version of Office for the Mac. While it is somewhat limited in scope, I still am able to use use it for what I bought it for as long as I do not need to find something unusual.
This is a very well written technical manual on Office 2016; some of the instructions only apply to Office for Windows and are not available in Office for Mac. It is well laid out with lots of hyperlinks that let you jump directly to the topic you need information on.
I use Office 2016 so this book is perfect for me. I carry it with me whenever I will be sitting in a waiting room. I have learned many new things with this book. It is soft covered and has glossy easy to turn pages.
Good basic book. Doesn't get into advanced features but most people don't use many of the programs advanced features.
This is the online help from Office support in book form. Woefully inadequate. Can I get my money back?
