If your child does not spend a *minimum* of 20 minutes reading this book, you're doing it wrong! My 2 year old grandson has the attention span of a flea. He can blow through a normal stack of books in 10 minutes, and be ready to climb the walls in 12. NOT WITH THIS BOOK! He gazed with wonder, excitement, and thrilled anticipation at every heavily illustrated page, taking in every tiny tree, bush, doggy, kitty, car, truck, and OH MY GOSH THE PLANES! Every flap (at least 10 per page) had to be opened, studied, closed, and opened again. After sitting on my lap long enough to give me a leg cramp, he still wasn't done. And when I finally had to get up, he transferred to Grandpa's lap, and read it AGAIN! Stop reading reviews and BUY THIS BOOK!**As others have suggested, pre-flap-opening is required. A butter knife worked well.
This book has so many great details. Hours of entertainment and learning for kids. I also really appreciated how it is --not-- racist and sexist like way too many kids' books. Many diverse types of people are depicted in the book, all using the airport, and the pilots and workers are not depicted according to old gender stereotypes. It's a sturdy book, too, which is good, because it gets a lot of reads at our house.
Some parts of this book look a little busy for me. The rest is pretty good.
So happy we stumbled upon this book! It got our daughter so excited for her first flight, and we love how inclusive it is of ALL kinds of people :)
I think this book will help prepare the child for the upcoming flight. Especially it is good for a child with autism who needs to explaineverything in advance. One minus that paper windows is opened very hard in first time. You can damage them.
There was much more to this book than I expected. There weren't any pictures of the inside, so I was assuming it was a lift the flap book with tabs. The last 2 pages folds out into 4 pages. There are so many flaps! We are hoping this will hold up for years. If you're not sure about an airplane book, just get it, it will be a fun surprise.
Love all the flaps. My son is obsessed with airplanes and the flaps on this are logical and add interest to the pictures rather than some of the more pointless flaps. They how what is inside various planes, carts, etc.
Decent book about airports (with a lot of detail - some of it odd) but it’s really cheaply made and the paper peeled off several of the flaps when we tried to read it for the first time.
